The concept of storyboarding has its roots in film and television. However, it is becoming an ever growing development tool used in the training industry. Whether written, visual or a combination of both, the process and utilization of storyboarding has many benefits for the instructional designer, SME/stakeholders, and learners.

In the month's presentation we will discuss the concept of storyboarding and the basic process of its creation, as well as the importance of visuals and their role in engaging the audience and facilitating learning.

Objectives:

  • Discuss the process of storyboarding and which steps have the greatest impact on the final course design, and ultimately, the learner
  • Understand the power of visuals and their role in storyboarding
  • Identify the must have and might have components of a storyboard
  • Timer permitted, practice turning written consent into a visual representation
