Technical competency is vital to all professions. A solid knowledge base provides a pathway to progress with a task or project. However, one’s interpersonal skills or lack thereof may hinder or delay the successful completion of any tasks or project. Effective interpersonal skills matter. The personal attributes used to communicate with another sets the tone of our leadership and communication style. What we don't say counts!

What a sender intends to communicate to another is null compared to how its perceived by the receiver. Feedback dictates what’s understood. What’s understood affects the ability to develop healthy relationships. Establishing healthy relationships lead to qualities to influence others. There is a direct correlation between interpersonal skills and effective leadership. How do you measure up?

At the end of this session, the learner will be able to:

  •  Identify communication skills needed in the workplace
  • Discuss attributes of non-verbal communication skills and suggestions to overcome insecurities
  • Benefits of exhibiting interpersonal skills for career progression and to influence others
  • Identify characteristics of extraverts and introverts and strategies to approach certain character traits
  • Describe how interpersonal relationships are a pathway to leadership
